Weekly weigh in - New beginnings

After getting my 7 stone award last week my mental state played tricks on me! Because I felt so good about the weight I'd lost, I started 'rewarding' myself with more Wednesday treats than usual and b Wednesday night I must have had at least over a hundred syns.
I'd be able to check that if I'd photographed everything like I usually do but I started dipping into the biscuits without mentally registering it and I lost count of how many biscuits I ate.
I helped myself to flapjack and ice cream and chocolate spread and the list goes on and on.

The result of my 'reward' is a half pound gain this week but on the plus side, it's also given me a new found determination to do this properly.
Before I started having a treat on a Wednesday after weigh in, I was losing 2-4lb a week. I'm going back to not having a treat day on a Wednesday and fitting any treats I want into my syns for the day.

I'm starting today as a new Slimming World member and going back to basics! I'm weighing and measuring everything that needs weighing and measuring and I'm pre-planning my meals in advance so I know what I'm eating and when and I'm going to make sure I stick within my syns allowance.

So here's to getting into the 23 stone category next week and to getting back on track to make sure that this time next year I'm at least another 7 stone lighter :)

Food Diary - Wednesday August 28th

I've decided to put more info into my food diaries because the way I write them now expects everyone to know how slimming world works and they're not very helpful for new members so from now on I'll break down the list into free foods, superfree foods, healthy extras and syns.

Breakfast

No breakfast - I don't eat before weigh in and I know it's not very healthy but it's psychological! I also have to go to the toilet before weigh in as well, whether I need to or not!

Recipe for rosemary steak with roast potatoes and onion gravy

Rosemary steak, roast potatoes and onion gravy

Serves 2

Ingredients:

2 sirloin steaks, all visible fat removed
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
A hand full of fresh rosemary, finely chopped
Salt and pepper

For the potatoes:
4 small-medium red potatoes, scrubbed
Fry light
4 bay leaves

For the gravy:
2 onions, halved and thickly sliced
100ml beef stock
1 level tsp gravy granules
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

To serve:
Superfree vegetables - I like to serve it with carrots and cabbage

Pre-heat your oven to 200°C/fan 180°C/gas 6

Place the steaks in a shallow bowl and sprinkle over garlic and rosemary. Season with pepper then cover and set aside.

For the potatoes, cut thin and even slices into each potato, leaving about 1cm uncut at the bottom.
Put the potatoes on a baking tray and spray with fry light. Tuck a bay leaf into each potato and season with salt and pepper. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until cooked through.

For the gravy, spray a pan with fry light and place over a medium heat. Add the onions, cover and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until soft.
Add the stock, bring to the boil then add the gravy granules. Stir and cook for 3-4 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat and stir in the balsamic vinegar and keep warm.

When the potatoes are nearly ready, place a frying pan over a high heat, spray with fry light and cook each steak for 2-3 minutes on each side or until done to your liking.

Serve with the potatoes, vegetables and gravy.
